Among all the social science subjects, AP Microeconomics has always been favoured by most candidates for its low difficulty level and high five-point rate. In 2019, the average AP scored by candidates globally is 3.28. It focuses more on family and business decision-making.
Should You Take AP Microeconomics?
The difficulty level is relatively low. The content learn is close to life, with wide range of applications. It has quite low mathematics requirements (you can fully grasp the basic mathematics of junior high school). It is recommended to prepare for the exam.
Exam Format
Section I: Multiple Choice
60 Questions | 1 Hour 10 Minutes | 66% of Exam Score
Questions require the use of economics content knowledge and reasoning across the range of course topics and skills in skill categories 1, 2, and 3.
Section II: Free Response
3 Questions | 1 Hour (includes a 10-minute reading period) | 33% of Exam Score
• 1 long free-response question (50% of section score).
• 2 short free-response questions (each worth 25% of section score).
• Students will be asked to:
-Make assertions about economic concepts, principles, models, outcomes, and/or effects
-Explain economic concepts, principles, models, outcomes, and/or effects
-Perform numerical analysis
-Create graphs or visual representations

The 2020 score distribution report shows that the 5-point rates for AP Microeconomic is 23.1%, proving that the subject is not as difficult as imagined.So how can we get a high score or even 5 points? Here are some suggestions:
1.Make notes. There are many similar concepts in economics, which can be easily confused. Hence it is very important to make notes, this allows you to quickly revise all concepts before the exam.
2.Focus on your weaknesses and have a collection of wrongly done questions. This allows you to focus on concepts that you are weak at. Keep reviewing the relevant content and test yourself to see if you are able to correct your own logic and thinking process.
3.Keep practising different questions before the exam. In the process of practising the questions, you can understand where you are weak at, so you know where to focus on and this will help a lot in exam preparation.
