Official 2019 August US SAT Test | SAT QAS in PDF with Answers

by SAT GrandMaster on March 31, 2021

Traditionally, the August SAT test is only available in the USA. After speaking with dozens of students who had taken part in the test, we've come up with the preliminary curve analysis of this test.

Below is the curve analysis for SAT August 2019 QAS USA:

  • General comment: normally the curve for the USA version is more lenient that than of the International version, the August 2019 test seemed to be no exception. Also to take note is that curve-wise, the math section is generally more demanding than english-section since late 2018. This is probably due to the accusation of score inflation by the CollegeBoard since the implementation of the new SAT in 2016. In order to maintain the rigour and credibility of the new SAT test, the CB has been particularly harsh on the math section to drive down the average score population-wide.
  • Reading - generally quite friendly, which is a good news for students who are stronger in STEM but weaker in humanities. For the first 3 mistakes, 10 points off for each mistake. For the fourth to the eighth mistakes, 10 points off for every 2 mistakes. In a nutshell, the curve is more lenient than normal.
  • Grammar - in part due to the relatively higher difficulty of the passages and questions in August test, the curve is also more lenient than normal. 10 points off for 1 mistake; 30 off points for 2 mistakes; 50 points off for 5 mistakes.
  • Math - compared to the English section, the curve is much steeper for math. You should expect 30 points off for 1 mistake, 70 points off for 3 mistakes, and 100 points off for 5 mistakes. It's clear that CB is taking a zero-toleration for mistake policy for math.
