Digital SAT QAS Breakdown: May 2026 Test (5G) — The Duplicate Capture

This is the shortest verdict we've ever given a form: 5G is 5E again. It's a 58-page English-only capture of Reading & Writing Modules 1 and 2 in the same Bluebook-screenshot style as 5C and 5E — and on every directly comparable page we sampled, 5G matches 5E exactly. Not "same template, new details," the way 5E relates to 5C: the same text and the same choice order, question for question. Its visible key tail (21D 22A 23D 24D 25A 26A 27B) matches 5E's key where the two overlap, at Q21=D.
The only differences our samples reveal are capture-level, not content-level: 5G runs one page longer than 5E (58 vs 57 — the extra page is unexplained by our samples), its key-table crop is plainer (no Chinese headers, no section column visible), and its Module 2 sample pages sit exactly one PDF page number later than 5E's — consistent with the same question sequence in a file with one extra page somewhere upstream. Honesty note: 5G is image-only — no text layer, so there are no parsed question counts or overlap percentages for it. Our identity claim is built from the sampled page pairs only; we verified every comparable pair and flag what the samples can't show (including whether all 54 questions match — only the sampled ones are confirmed).
The Evidence — 5G vs 5E, Page by Page
Reading & Writing, Module 1, Q1 — Same Frye Item, Same Deal of the Cards
Northrop Frye's Anatomy of Criticism (1957) — "what does the word 'projection' most nearly mean?" A Estimation / B Presentation / C Elimination / D Prediction.
Identical to 5E's M1 Q1 including the shuffled choice order — the detail that rules out coincidence. 5A and 5D carry this item in its canonical arrangement; 5E re-dealt the letters; 5G's arrangement is 5E's, letter for letter. Q2 tells the same story: the air-conditioning-registers item ("can actually reduce the ___ climate-control systems") with 5E's exact option order — A limitation on / B efficiency of / C expense of / D need for. Expected answers via 5E's verified key: Q1=B ("Presentation"), Q2=B ("efficiency of").
Reading & Writing, Module 1, Q14 — The Amplypterus Moth, Again
The moth acoustic-mimicry completion — species Amplypterus panopus, predator the big brown bat (Eptesicus fuscus), researchers Jesse R. Barber et al.
Same variant as 5E (5C's version of this template carries different species, a different bat, and different researchers), same four completion statements, same letter order. 5E's verified key says D — the Batesian-mimicry completion — and there is no reason to expect anything else here.
Reading & Writing, Module 2 — Two Pages That Tell the Same Story
M2 Q2 (p029): the Judson Dance Theater — Arlene Rothlein, sculptor Richard Morris — "Rejecting formal techniques, the group ___ everyday movements" (contrived / amended / repudiated / foregrounded → foregrounded). M2 Q16 (p043): Milwaukee's cream-colored brick — "The widespread use of this locally produced material … ___ to Milwaukee acquiring its enduring nickname 'Cream City'" (leading / led / having led / which led → led).
Both are known recycled College Board practice items — and both sit exactly one PDF page later than 5E's corresponding Module 2 samples (p029 vs p028, p043 vs p042), precisely what you'd expect from the same question sequence inside a file with one extra page upstream. Even the key tails line up: 5G's Q21=D equals 5E's Q21=D.
The Key Page — Plainer Crop, Same Numbers
5G's p056 shows a plain two-column key tail (number / letter), rows 21–27: 21D 22A 23D 24D 25A 26A 27B. No header row or section column is visible in the crop — unlike 5E's Chinese-headed three-column table — but where the two files overlap (Q21), they agree. Everything we can check, checks.
Buying Advice — Said Plainly
- If you own 5E, skip 5G. On all sampled evidence it adds nothing: same questions, same choice order, same answers. Spend that slot on 5C (same templates, different costumes) or 5F (questions found nowhere else in May) instead.
- If you own neither, buy 5E, not 5G. Same content — and 5E's key page is the more complete artifact (column headers, plus a blank "your answer" column built for self-scoring).
- The one exception: a clean retake copy. If you've already marked up 5E and want a pristine second pass of the identical form, 5G functions as that — but that's a printing convenience, not new prep value.
- How this happens: two people captured the same underlying May form in the same app style, and one capture runs a page longer. Duplicate captures are a normal hazard of crowdsourced archives; the value of an archive that cross-checks every file (like ours) is that someone actually tells you.

Deep Analysis: What 5G Tests (i.e., What 5E Tests)
Same template pool as 5C/5E: vocabulary-led Module 1 openers, the dense moth-acoustics logical completion mid-M1, an easy vocabulary item early in Module 2, and mid-M2 grammar and vocab (verb form in the Cream City item; vocab in the Judson Dance Theater item). Tips for Students Using 5G (If You Already Have It)
- Treat it as 5E with a plainer key. Every strategy in our 5E post applies unchanged: memorize words not letters, demand mechanisms on science completions, self-score before trusting any key table.
- Use the duplicate as an error-recovery copy. If a page in one file is blurry or cropped, the other file's matching page is your backup — just remember the offsets drift by about one page in Module 2.
- Still anchor to words. The Frye answer is "Presentation" wherever it appears — in 5G and 5E at B, in 5D at D. Letters are file-specific; meanings are pool-wide.
- Don't double-count your practice. Drilling 5G after 5E is re-drilling 5E. Track unique questions, not files — the May bundle's value is in its distinct templates.
