Digital SAT QAS Breakdown: December 2025 Test (12D) — The Form Hiding Inside the Question Bank
Last updated: September 2026 · By the AllSatPapers Content Team
Form 12D is a complete December 2025 US form — all four modules, 98 questions, clean readable text. But its real identity is stranger: when we cross-checked all 98 questions against the December pool, we found that essentially every one of them also lives inside the 12F question bank. The overlap measure reaches 123.5% of the form — more than the whole test — because the bank holds duplicate copies of some 12D items. 12D is, quite literally, the form hiding inside the question bank.
No answer key is included, so below we quote real stems from the parsed text, verify a working answer set ourselves, map the retune families shared with 12C, 12E, and 12F, and flag the questions found nowhere else.

Sample Questions — Quoted From the Parsed Text
Reading & Writing, Module 1, Q25 — The Fossil Brood-Care Passage (12D's Version)
From meerkats to leaf beetles, many animals practice some form of brood care. Chenyang Cai and team claim to have found the earliest evidence of this behavior in insects in 163.5-million-year-old remains from the Haifanggou Formation in China… thirty individuals that appear to carry eggs on one of their legs.
Main idea → Answer D: Cai and team's study of K. popovi fossils suggests that brood care in insects began earlier than formerly established. If it rings a bell, it should — 12C asks the same main-idea question naming researcher Yanzhe Fu, and the 12F bank's version names Huang. The researcher and distractors rotate; the fossils don't.

Reading & Writing, Module 2, Q27 — The Taam Ja' Blue Hole, Asked Differently
In 2021, researchers studied the previously unexplored Taam Ja' Blue Hole (TJBH) in Chetumal Bay, Mexico; using echo sounder mapping, they determined its maximum depth to be about 274 meters… in 2023, Joan Sánchez-Sánchez and colleagues employed a conductivity, temperature, and depth (CTD) profiler… The profiler recorded depths around 420 meters but was unable to confirm detection of the bottom of the hole, suggesting that ______
Logical completion → Answer D: the CTD profiler may be better suited than echo sounder mapping for blue holes, but another approach is likely needed to ascertain the TJBH's maximum depth. 12C's version carries the same logic at choice B: 420 meters recorded without finding the bottom means the true depth is both greater and unknown.

Math, Module 2, Q13 — The Tetrahedron in Pints
The base of one of these tetrahedrons is an isosceles right triangle whose legs each have length 14 inches. The height of this tetrahedron is 15 in. Which of the following is closest to the volume of this tetrahedron, in pints? (Note: 1 pint = 0.5 quarts; use 1 quart = 57.75 in³…)
Answer D: 16.97 pints — and the chain is the whole problem. Base area S = ½ × 14 × 14 = 98 in²; volume = ⅓ × 98 × 15 = 490 in³; 490 ÷ 57.75 ≈ 8.48 quarts; × 2 = 16.97 pints.

Math, Module 2, Q22 — The One-Intersection System
y = x² − 37x and y = −(1/12)(108x + k). In the given system of equations, k is a positive constant. The graphs of the equations in the given system intersect at exactly one point (x, y) in the xy-plane. What is the value of x?
Answer D: 14. Setting the equations equal gives x² − 28x + k/12 = 0; exactly one intersection forces a zero discriminant, so k = 2,352 — and then you throw k away, because the question asks for x, the double root: 28 ÷ 2 = 14.

Cross-Form Analysis: The Form Inside the Bank
Here is 12D's fingerprint against the rest of the archive — verbatim, retuned, and family-level matches as a share of its 98 questions:
| Other document | Verbatim | Retuned | Family | Share of 12D |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 12F Question Bank | 93 | 28 | 1 | 123.5% |
| 2025 12C | 8 | 22 | 1 | 30.6% |
| 2025 12E | 2 | 8 | 0 | 10.2% |
| 2025 9J Question Bank (September) | 0 | 9 | 0 | 9.2% |
| 2025 11D (November) | 0 | 8 | 0 | 8.2% |
| 2025 10D (October) | 0 | 5 | 1 | 5.1% |
A share above 100% is possible because the 392-question 12F file holds near-duplicate copies of some questions, so one 12D item can match two bank entries. The buyer's takeaway: owning 12F gets you nearly all of 12D's questions, but only 12D preserves them as a real, sequenced, 98-question exam — the difference between a pile of bricks and a building.

The December Retune Map: 12D's Families, Verified
Our 12C breakdown mapped December's shared question families; each 12D branch below was verified against this form's actual text:
| Question family | Where in 12D | 12D's version |
|---|---|---|
| Fossil brood care (K. popovi, Haifanggou) | R&W M1 Q25 | Researcher Chenyang Cai (12C: Yanzhe Fu · 12F: Huang) |
| Lighthouse keepers (notes) | R&W M1 Q1 | Catherine A. Moore & Flora McNeil, Connecticut (12C: Florida · 12F: New York) |
| Stony coral depth table | R&W M1 Q18 | Acropora bushyensis (max 5 m) puts the smallest maximum in the Indo-Pacific shallow zone |
| Taam Ja' Blue Hole | R&W M2 Q27 | Same passage as 12C; answer letter moved (B → D) |
| Spanish ranching terms | R&W M2 Q1 | "Lasso" from lazo, "stockade" from estacada — verb-tense blank |
| Apollo Moon sensors | R&W M2 Q2 | 1969–1972 data on obsolete tech — vocabulary blank ("salvage") |
| Cooking-oil smoke point | R&W M1 Q2 | Safflower oil at 510°F (12C: sesame, 410°F) — same grammar skeleton |
| Indigenous languages | R&W M2 Q16 | Kwakwaka'wakw and Karen songs — a completion on preserving songs, not 12C's speaker-count table |
| Hidalgo municipalities (notes) | R&W M2 Q21 | Pisaflores (18,723) vs Metztitlán (20,962) (12C: Huazalingo · 12E: Tlahuelilpan) |
| Chimpanzee UVB adaptation | R&W M2 Q23 | Sophie Moittié's zoo-chimpanzee vitamin D study — logical completion |
| Pregnant beaver scatterplot | Math M2 Q17 | Nine beavers; the 50-pound beaver produced 6 offspring |
Eleven families in one form — and after accounting for every match, only three of 12D's 98 questions appear nowhere else. 12D is December's most connected form.
Deep Analysis: What 12D Tests, Module by Module
Reading & Writing — Domain Distribution (54 questions)
| College Board domain | Module 1 | Module 2 | Total | Share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Information & Ideas (main idea, evidence, data, inference) | 5 | 4 | 9 | ~17% |
| Craft & Structure (vocab, text structure, cross-text) | 6 | 7 | 13 | ~24% |
| Expression of Ideas (transitions, notes/synthesis) | 5 | 3 | 8 | ~15% |
| Standard English Conventions (grammar, punctuation) | 5 | 6 | 11 | ~20% |
| Other / unclassified in auto-index | 6 | 7 | 13 | ~24% |
The classifiable core tracks the published blueprint, with Craft & Structure carrying Module 2 (five vocabulary items alone). Grammar items — the safflower-oil comma fix, the Borinqueneers' "their," the Atlantis verb tense — are spread through both modules.
Math — A Tale of Two Speeds Inside One Form
Module 1 (22 questions) is a broad mixed module: linear equations and graphs (4), functions (2), geometry and trigonometry (2), plus single items in circles, exponentials, percents, statistics, and systems — closing with a parameterized f(x) = 6(x − 2)(x² − k) grid-in and the inscribed-angle arc item.
Module 2 (22 questions) mixes speeds starkly: easy-route stock like the "__ − w = 30" one-step equation (sibling to 12C's 80 − w = 50) and the $17 → $68 percent increase sits beside the tetrahedron chain and the disguised discriminant at Q22, with geometry and trigonometry (4) and quadratics (2) on top. The December pool blends difficulty rather than segregating it.
Tips for Students Using 12D
- Use 12D as the timed mock; use 12F as the drill reservoir. The bank holds nearly every 12D question, but only 12D sequences them into a real exam. Sit 12D under a timer, then mine the bank for reps on whatever hurt you.
- Study the retunes side by side. Watch the brood-care researcher rotate from Cai (12D) to Fu (12C) to Huang (12F) while the main idea holds still — once you see the skeleton, the costume stops distracting you.
- Finish the unit chain. The tetrahedron plants 490.00 (cubic inches) as bait. Write the full conversion — in³ → quarts → pints — before looking at the options.
- Answer the variable that's asked. Q22's trap choice is k itself (2,352). Circle the final sentence of every multi-step item before computing.
- Percent change: new minus old, over old. $17 → $68 is a 300% increase, not 400%.
